Introduction

Shalakyatantra is the branch of Ayurveda, which relates to the diseases of the Eye, Ear, Nose, Throat, and Oro-dental as well as its treatment by classical methods like Kriyakalpas and different surgical methods. Knowledge of Shalakya enables the students to be an authority in Shalakyatantra & makes them good clinicians, competent surgeons, good teachers & scientists with analytical minds. Shalakyatantra is a subject, that requires the best judgment & clinical acumen, and hand skills.

Objectives

  • To teach the students about Ayurvedic perspectives regarding various surgical ailments and their management in netra, nasa, karna and mukharoga.
  • To train students so that they can acquire basic skills to perform various karmas.
  • To train students so that they can learn and master Ayurvedic kriyakalpas
  • tarpan, putapaka, anjana, pariseka, etc.

Hospital

  • well-equipped two separate OPDs- 1) Netra (Eye), Karna-Nasa-Mukha (E.N.T), and 2) Danta (Orodental)
  • Separate I.P.D. & well-equipped O.T. for Shalakyatantra.
  • Special Ayurvedic treatment is given for many chronic and common diseases e.g. for dry eye/ computer vision syndrome- Netratarpana, Aschyotana, Karnasrava- Karnadhupan, etc.
  • Monthly eye and dental checkup camps for villagers, industrial employees & school students.
